Corona Update: We Have A Corona Killer Technique !

The corona virus that came out of China in December last year has now caught most of the countries of the world.  This deadly virus has killed more than two lakh people worldwide and is not taking the name of its havoc.  Doctors and scientists from all over the world are trying to stop this one virus today, but in the absence of vaccines, the problems are increasing for them too.

Plasma Therapy

Corona Update

In such a situation, Convalescent Plasma Therapy has raised some hope and many other countries of the world including India want to help in defeating Corona.  Plasma therapy can be said to have emerged as a 'support for drowning'.

Where is plasma therapy being used?

In the capital city of India, the state government started giving plasma therapy to six people ill with Kovid-19 and positive changes have been seen in four of them.  Karnataka has also started a clinical trial of plasma therapy this week.  The Bihar government also wants to trial it in Patna AIIMS.

Kerala, which was the first to talk about plasma therapy in the country, is going to start work in this direction soon.  More than 30 hospitals from different states of the country have sought its permission.  The UK government has clarified on Saturday that people who are seriously ill with Kovid-19 are being given plasma therapy.

The government says that they are starting clinical trials and will try to get plasma from people so that at least 5,000 patients can be treated every week.  The American Food and Drug Administration has requested to donate plasma to people recovering from Kovid-19 so that it can be used for others.

Convalescent plasma was used to combat the Ebola virus, according to the World Health Organization.  China, from where the corona virus started circulating worldwide, has also been successful using plasma therapy.  Started working on this therapy from the beginning of February in China.

Guo Yanhong, an official of the Chinese National Health Commission, said in late February about its use that it has proved safe and effective so far.  So can Convalescent Plasma Therapy be considered a very important step in stopping Corona's growing move?

SK Sarin, chief of the Corona panel in Delhi and a doctor at ILBS Hospital, says, "You have to understand that vaccine and plasma therapy are two different things. Plasma therapy is treating but for the long term we need to avoid corona  Vaccines will be needed. "

He says, "Vaccination is a type of preventive step that will be needed by every person. Those who do not get the vaccine may have corona infection and will therefore need treatment. Plasma therapy comes in handy for their treatment."

In those who have Kovid-19 disease due to Corona virus, the virus starts spreading in the first stage.  After this, in the second stage it produces compaction in the lungs.  And in the third stage, the organ starts failing.

Doctor Sarin says that if plasma therapy is given at the beginning of the second stage of infection, the patient is expected to survive but cannot replace the vaccine.  They say that this is a new virus, work on its vaccine is going on in many places but will have to wait till then.  There are no anti-viral drugs yet to treat covid-19.  In this case, until the anti-viral is found, the light beam of hope is plasma therapy only.

Doctor Sarin believes that this therapy can be used extensively until the corona virus is treated.  They say that plasma donor should come forward for this and people can give blood for it many times because it does not cause weakness in the person.

During the Corona epidemic, government health agencies in the US and several companies working on plasma have formed a plasma alliance together.  These alliances are trying to move forward on its use in the treatment of Kovid-19.

At the same time, different states in India are moving forward on their level after the approval of ICMR and Drugs Controller-General of India, but there seems to be a lack of concerted effort.  On this question, Dr. Sarin says, "The case of India is a little different. This is the work of the government and there is not much to be said about this matter."

What is plasma therapy?

Plasma Therapy

Convalescent plasma therapy is based on the assumption that patients who recover from an infection develop resistant antibodies that neutralize the infection in their body.  With the help of these antibodies, the virus present in the blood of Kovid-19 patient can be eliminated.

Plasma treatment has been in place for the treatment of infectious diseases for centuries.  Prior to this, plasma therapy was also used in the treatment of epidemics like SARS, Murs and H1N1.
